WilcomWorkspace
WilcomWorkspace is an on-demand web application that lets you open embroidery designs to view, resize, recolor, print and convert to machine files from anywhere on a PC, Mac or tablet device. Based on the same core software as Wilcom’s acclaimed professional embroidery design software, WilcomWorkspace provides the same unique advantages of the ‘all-in-one’ EMB file format.
What does it do?
WilcomWorkspace can be used to open, view and scale Wilcom EMB object-based embroidery designs. WilcomWorkspace can convert designs to many machine formats. Scale whole designs – stitch counts automatically adjust to preserve existing stitch density.
Embroidery files
WilcomWorkspace opens and saves to a comprehensive range of both ‘design’ and ‘machine’ files, including native Wilcom EMB format.
What’s different about Wilcom’s ‘all-in-one’ EMB native file format?
EMB designs are created in Wilcom’s professional embroidery software. All design information – outlines, stitches, thread colors and more – is saved in the one file. This means designs can be scaled perfectly in WilcomWorkspace, even those containing Wilcom’s fancy fills and stitch effects.
How do ‘design’ files differ from ‘machine’ files?
Machine or ‘stitch’ files are low-level formats for direct use by embroidery machines. They contain only stitch coordinates and machine functions. These files are generally not suited to modification. Because the stitch count does not change, the density increases or decreases with design size. Thus, you should not scale stitch designs by more than ±5% or some areas may be too thickly or too thinly covered.
Can I permanently convert my other designs to EMB?
Yes. WilcomWorkspace can read any of the popular embroidery machine formats. You can then output to any machine file format for stitching.
Work environment
One of the great advantages of WilcomWorkspace is that you can access it anywhere on a PC, Mac or tablet device. Simply follow the URL...

The application has one workspace or ‘Design Workspace’ but you interact with it in different operating modes. When you log into the system, you are taken to the ‘Dashboard’. From here you can access your Wilcom account settings as well as the ‘studio’ or actual WilcomWorkspace application. You can also open design files directly from the Dashboard.
Main workspace
WilcomWorkspace also offers a graphical representation of what the final embroidery will look like. When you first access the workspace, you are prompted to open an embroidery file – either design or machine file – or access the workspace with no design selected. When trialing the system, open the sample design.
WilcomWorkspace allows you to view and work with embroidery designs using the toolset shown below. Use this window when you want to work with your design files.
