Wilcom’s Embroidery Web API (EWA) provides a RESTful interface for integrating advanced embroidery capabilities into web and cloud-based applications. The API exposes functionality for rendering, modifying, and generating embroidery designs using Wilcom’s industry-standard EMB format and other machine file formats.

🖼️ Visualize embroidery designs as TrueView images

  1. Generate realistic stitch previews as transparent PNGs at 1:1 scale.
  2. Selectable resolution of 96- 300 DPI.
  3. Transparent background to display on any color web page or garment image.
  4. Select EMB colorway to view or get images of all colorways in EMB designs.
  5. Suitable for product previews and real-time design visualization.

🖌️ Generate artwork previews

  1. Preview uploaded bitmap or vector artwork with transparent backgrounds.
  2. Convert uploaded vector – PDF, EPS – or bitmap – PNG, JPG, PSD, etc.
  3. Create PNG with transparent background to display on garment.
  4. Ideal for previewing customer logos before digitizing.

🎨 Obtain design & color information

Retrieve design details, including:
  1. Size
  2. Stitches
  3. Colors
  4. Stops
  5. Trims
  6. Thread colors
  7. Multiple colorways
  8. Stop sequence color list

🧩 Combine designs

  1. Merge multiple embroidery designs and lettering objects into a composite output.
  2. Specify the relative position of designs to be combined.

🔄 Manipulate designs

  1. Apply transformations – scale, rotate, mirror, reposition.
  2. Define decoration 'recipes' with precise positioning and orientation.

🌈 Re-color designs

  1. Change thread colors in lettering or object layers within an embroidery file.
  2. Upload a new set of thread colors to replace existing design colors.
  3. Specify thread colors for DST and other formats which don't have color info.

✏️ Create embroidery lettering

  1. Create new lettering and add to existing designs.
  2. Specify text, alphabet, height, and color – single or multiple lines.
  3. Choose from over 200 professionally digitized Wilcom embroidery fonts.
  4. Specify text attributes – size, font, bold/italic, thread color, baselines, spacing modes.

📝 Edit lettering in designs

  1. Modify text, font, size, and color in existing EMB designs.
  2. Handles multiple lettering objects in the design.
  3. Custom lettering and stitching parameters are set by your EMB design.

👕 Create team-name lettering

  1. Generate batch lettering with variable names for uniforms, jerseys, etc.
  2. Specify a list of names and basic team-name parameters.
  3. Lettering by itself or combined with an existing design.

🔠 Create new & edit monograms

  1. Create personalized monograms with decorative motifs and layout styles.
  2. Choose from 16 monogram styles, with or without ornaments.

💾 Save & convert embroidery design formats

  1. Save designs in EMB design formats from e2, e3, e4, e4.1, e4.5, Digital Edition
  2. Convert EMB designs to/from common machine file formats – e.g. DST, PES, EXP, JEF.

EWA is fully cloud-hosted on Wilcom-managed servers and accessed via secure API calls. Developers integrate these services into custom UIs, enabling real-time embroidery personalization and production-ready output from within any web platform.
