Use case: golf club personalized garments
A golf club wants to let members order embroidered polo shirts and other merchandise, personalized with their own names (or names of family and friends).
Step 1: Design preparation in EmbroideryStudio
- In Wilcom EmbroideryStudio, create a lettering design sized for the left chest position.
- Set the design for the target fabric – e.g. Pure Cotton. This ensures correct stitch density, pull compensation, underlay, and minimum stitch length.
- Prepare separate EMB templates for each fabric type offered – cotton, poly-cotton, wool, etc.
- When a user selects a garment, the website automatically assigns the correct EMB file.
- The resulting machine file – e.g. DST for Tajima – will be production-ready.
Step 2: Website integration with Concept App
Using the Wilcom Concept App (available on the developer site):
- Upload the prepared EMB template.
- The server returns design data + TrueView image preview.
- The app detects lettering objects that can be changed.
- The customer types in their text → the app updates the design and TrueView instantly.
Developers can enable 'Show Design Recipe' in the app to see the XML API call behind the scenes (useful for implementation).Step 3: Production output
- For production, output the design in the correct machine format: DST (Tajima), TAP (Happy), EXP (Melco), etc.
- Always keep EMB templates for editing, personalization, or future API calls.
Step 4: Multiple colorways
- Designs can include multiple colorways (different thread color arrangements).
- Example: a garment available in 10 colors can have 10 corresponding thread color schemes.
- The website should map garment color selections to the appropriate design colorway:
