Generate estimates

Generate embroidery stitch estimates from artwork or embroidery designs. Estimator analyzes your artwork and calculates an estimated stitch count in seconds. If your organization's pricing has been configured, it also calculates production and digitizing costs.

The following procedure assumes your organization's price tables have already been configured by an Organization Account Owner. For pricing setup instructions, see Estimator pricing.

Before you begin

Estimator accepts most common bitmap image formats, including JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, and GIF.


For best results:
  1. Use clear artwork with well-defined shapes.
  2. Use images with a solid or transparent background.
  3. Avoid photographs or complex backgrounds where possible.

Measurement units

Estimator displays design dimensions in either Metric or Inches. You can switch between the two at any time using the measurement selector on the View toolbar in Truesizer. Changing the units affects the displayed dimensions only. It does not affect the estimated stitch count or pricing.


Create a new estimate

You can create an estimate from the WilcomWorkspace dashboard or directly within the Estimator application.
  1. Open Estimator. The interface provides everything you need to create, review, and manage embroidery estimates.

  2. Click New Estimate on the General toolbar.

  3. Upload an artwork image or embroidery design.

Configure the artwork

After uploading the artwork, the Estimator workspace opens.


Use the Image Setup panel to:
  1. Preview the artwork.
  2. Specify the finished design dimensions.

  3. Remove the image background if required.
  4. Choose whether to receive the estimate by email.

Saved estimates remain available for future reference.

Generate the estimate

When the artwork has been configured:
  1. Click Generate to generate the stitch estimate. Estimator analyzes the artwork.
    1. A TrueView™ preview is generated.
    2. The estimated stitch count and pricing are calculated.

  2. Review the estimated stitch count and production costs. Depending on your pricing configuration, the estimate may include:
    1. Estimated stitch count
    2. Production price
    3. Digitizing price
    4. Quantity
    5. Estimated design dimensions

Re-estimate the design

If the estimated stitch count or pricing is not suitable...
  1. Go back to the Image Setup and adjust the design dimensions.
  2. Click Generate to re-generate the stitch estimate.

    Changing the finished design size updates the estimated stitch count and production costs.

    Next steps

    Once you are satisfied with the estimate, you can:
    1. Save it for future reference.
    2. Print or save it as a PDF.
    3. Email the estimate.
